LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The three religious and spiritually-themed shows coming to a cable box or streaming network near you will be hitting the ground running.
Each new show features some spiritual aspect and ranges from suspense to comedy.
So which will you tune in to?
The first is Fox's new show "The Exorcist."
"The Exorcist" will premier Friday, September 23 and features Angela Rance (Geena Davis), who believes her home is possessed.
Like most sane women who think they've gone off the deep end, Rance contacts her priest, Rev. Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera).
Ortega is skeptical but agrees to dine with Rance's family to see if anything suspicious happens.
Prior to the make-it-or-break-it dinner, Rance does some digging into demonic possession, where she comes across Marcus Keane, a priest and experienced exorcist.
Interestingly, she recognizes him from the nightmares haunting her dreams.
Is Keane truly a priest or is he a wolf-in-disguise? Tune in to find out!
The second show came to NBC September 19.
"The Good Place" is a comedy surrounding Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), who got into a rather embarrassing accident involving grocery carts. Suddenly she finds herself in the afterlife where she is welcomed by Michael (Ted Danson), who informs her she's made it to "the good place."
Eleanor enjoys a tour of her gorgeous new home and is introduces to her soulmate Chidi (William Jackson Harper), a former ethics professor.
Though she is amazed at her new (after)life, she quickly realizes something went wrong and she was misidentified as someone else who should be with Chidi here in "the good place."
What kind of person is she? Would she just be relocated to a different home with a different soulmate or will she be sent somewhere a little hotter?
Knowing she'll be caught sooner or later, Eleanor joins forces with the only other person who knows her deep dark secret: Chidi. Together, they attempt to earn Ealeanor a place in "the good place" before she is caught and sent away.
The final series premiering this season is "This Is Us," which will show Setp. 20 on NBC.
The basic premise is several characters from entirely different walks of life are about to turn 36-years-old. Each character feels the need to change in some way, whether it be a break from the monotony of life, to strive to be better or simply for a change of scenery.
We ask you, humbly: don't scroll away.
